G.Skill DDR3-2000 Memory There are a number of manufacturers that currently produce high quality, performance memory modules, with the likes of OCZ, Corsair, Patriot and Crucial often being listed in the IT press; but there are a few makes that don't seem to get the press coverage they deserve and G.Skill is one of them. |

G. Skill is based in Taipei (Taiwan),
it was established back in 1989 by a small group of
enthusiasts, and has now grown to be one of the leading
memory module manufacturers. |

SPECIFICATION
|
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||
G.Skill's DDR3 Ripjaw, Low Voltage, Dual Channel Kits are all 100% hand-tested to ensure they are of the highest quality. They are sheathed in a propriety XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreader for the most effective heat dissipation, and feature a distinctive 'saw tooth like' top edge. If this unmistakable design and attention to detail was not enough then G.Skill memory kits are all backed by their industry-leading Lifetime Warranty and technical support for unparalleled peace of mind. All this adds up to a very high quality product which is easily on a par with (if not better than) the competition. |

As you can see from the specifications, these memory modules are rated at an impressive 2000Mhz, that's 2Ghz (PC3-16000). Their default times of 9-9-9-27 are nothing special, but one thing that I noticed early on in my testing is the very flexible/wide ranging timings that are possible with these modules, which were very happy to sit at a lower 8-8-8-18 timing without any problems, this inherent flexibility should help make this memory be very compatible. As with all many of my reviews I'm not going to bog myself down with masses of benchmarks, I will let other sites do that, but to the left are some of the results I obtained. |

I have included a benchmark (in black) for previous generation DDR2 memory as a comparison, but as you can see the G.Skill Ripjaw's are significantly faster. In fact at it's default rated speed the Ripjaw's almost hit a throughput of 10GB/s, which is pretty impressive. With all this quality and performance you would be forgiven for assuming that the Ripjaws would retail at a seriously premium price, but you would be very wrong, in fact they are generally much cheaper than other branded, performance memory. |

Advantages: High Performance Memory |
Disadvantages: None that I can see! |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
Conclusion: So if you need high quality,
highly compatible, performance memory at a good price, then make sure you
don't over-look G.Skill's Ripjaw memory modules. In fact
I'm so impressed with them I won't be parting with them any
time soon! |
